It is one of the best spots to visit in Danang. It is a magnificent statue located on the peninsula of Son Tra Mountain, also called Elephant Mountain, northeast of Da Nang. This small part is in the northeast of the city. Continuing along the beach it is easily possible to access it.

What is Lady Buddha

At 67 meters, Lady Buddha is the tallest buddha in Vietnam. Inside the Lady Buddha are seventeen floors, each with a shrine dedicated to a different Buddha. On the top floor is a flight of stairs that you can take up to her head where you can marvel over the views of the city and the ocean as if you were the Lady Buddha herself. This is not the only interesting place, a few meters away, you can find a magnificent place with pagodas, cut trees and a magnificent view.

Access can be by taxi, scooter or bicycle. It is also possible to take the opportunity to take a walk in the surroundings. Depending on the heat it can be very hot, so it is best to plan the excursion although the city center of Da Nang remains very close. Meaning of Lady Buddha

Lady Buddha is the Goddess of Mercy who is believed to see, hear and sympathize cries of people in the world. Her right hand holds a water vase, containing nectar of life and a willow branch in her left hand, used to sprinkle the nectar on the prayers. For fishers, she also is a patron saint who follows, gives fortune and saves them on the sea. Standing on a blooming lotus, this perfect depiction faces the city, aiming to shelter its citizens from disasters. Locals have been believing that since her presence, typhoons don’t hit their hometown.
